CoronaVirus: Notice to Delegates

On behalf of the Alintacorp management, I regret to inform you that the "African Diplomatic Etiquette, Protocol and Cooperation Workshop: 30 - 31 March 2020" has been postponed.

President Ramaphosa announced a 21-day lockdown last night which will take full effect on Thursday 26th March.

This is due to the effects and severity of the corona virus that continue to increase with no sign of slowing down. Alintacorp has taken the necessary precautions and measures to assist in preventing the spreading of the virus, and to ensure the health of our valued delegates and our staff.

We have therefore rescheduled the event for the end of June 2020, in accordance with the speaker’s availability. This is also in anticipation that the situation would have improved.
On behalf of the Alintacorp, we would like to thank you in advance for understanding this situation.

We remain optimistic that all will proceed smoothly in the near future.

Kind Regards,

Rob Fisher.

30th - 31st March 2020 - Alintacorp African Diplomatic Etiquette, Protocol and Cooperation Workshop

The protocol rules are universal as fixed in Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. However diplomatic practice varies in different countries.

Protocol is an important part of diplomatic practice. With the advent of air travel, Heads of State and respective delegations began to meet more often, resulting in a rise in summitry. Such meetings necessitate that protocol procedures and etiquette are strictly followed in order to find a balance between commonly accepted norms of behaviour that need to be applied during such occasions. Diplomatic Etiquette and Protocol can be intimidating and difficult to grasp without specialised background knowledge and experience.
